Builder beige and a bare box became a layered room — plaster walls, an antique rug, tailored linen upholstery and picture lights over original art.
Oak cabinets and laminate gave way to creamy shaker millwork, a honed marble slab backsplash, a deep navy island and unlacquered brass.

As the daughter of a military family, Melissa spent her childhood moving every few years — an experience that instilled in her the notion that home is a place we create.
Prior to leading her design firm, Melissa was an attorney who spent over a decade consulting on mergers, acquisitions and organizational transformations. She travelled extensively, spending years working in Europe, which continues to inspire her design aesthetic.
After studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, she opened Melissa Ewen Design. Melissa and her husband Kurt live in Sewickley, PA with their two children and dog, Lucy.
